The Waverly unofficial race report.
I should probably leave it to the racers to do their own race reports, but I went to do a little spectating at the Waverly race this weekend. Waverly was the Kentucky- Indiana showdown where the best of each state duke it out for a little state pride. Naturally we bourbon drinking rednecks stomped the Hoosiers all over the woods and that trophy remains in the old KY, but it was also nice to see the Goose Creek Racing team leading the way in the effort.
Not wanting to leave Lane to fend for himself, I sat this one out, and fed bottles to the boys while Lane did his pre-race warm up on the playground. For some reason race organizers in all these events keep making the mistake that just because riders choose not to use gears or suspension forks that they will be slow, and make them race in with the cat 2 or 3 events. (no offense Rusty, that is just the way it is) Just to spit in their eye Blaine rolled onto the start line with the Cat 2's, played with them for a minute, and then started picing his way through the Cat 1 field which had started a few minutes before. It is safe to say that Blaine not only decimated the other single speed guys, and the Cat 2 guys, but he also shamed a good hunk of the Cat 1 field.
Blaine was the first finisher of the day, but wait what was that that just went by??? Was that Sean??
Sean Moore would have been racing single speed if I didn't have his bike completely disassembled on the stand at the shop. Apparently he had another weapon in the arsenal though and he came sailing through on a geared bike hot on Blaine's heels. It seems that just being on the podium wasn't enough for him, he blew through the finish line and rolled right back out on the trail not to be seen for another 15 minutes or so when he decided he had had enough.
So with two riders in the event and two podium finishes things can only go down hill from there right? Nope. Daddy gets some bragging rights too. The kids race hadn't gone off yet. Naturally Lane's Free Agent Lil' Speedy is was going to roll faster down the hill than and Spiderman bike, so he had the class to wait for his opponents at the bottom of the hill before pulling out the win on the climb. So that makes 3 riders, 3 podium finishes, and a great day in the sun for Goose Creek Racing.
Naturally I would like to thank Rusty for putting on the race, and all of our sponsors for their help in getting us there. A special nod to Kinetic Koffee for getting me caffinated enough to watch a 4 year old and still get bottles to the gang.

Dirt Sweat and Gears 2010

Blain and I both just hit go on registration for this race after last years mud fest, I am not sure what the draw is, but here I am again. This race is my birthday present to myself. Just 12 hours of pain in the woods. Anyway, happened to see this shot from last years race and thought I would include it. - Jon

Kits
The GCC racing kits are almost ready. The kind folks at Champion-Systems are working mad overtime to proof our design. Very soon we are going to have to consider sizing and quantity, not only for ourselves but for any of our beautiful sponsors. Speaking of which I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of our supporters by loading up this blog with your names and logos.
